The torii gate was donated by the people of Hiroshima as a sign of friendship and stands between King and Beretania Streets in Moiliili. It is an exact replica of the torii gate fronting Hiroshima’s Miyajima Island. Hiroshima is Honolulu’s sister city in Japan.

While on lookout duty for the remains of a downed Coast Guard helicopter to be tugged back to land I was enjoying the view of the moon from Sand Island.

Going through some old photos I took in Japan during an exchange program. This is a shot looking down one of the hallways of the school in Japan I attended, Kashii High School in Fukuoka.

I was shooting this on a holiday when campus was deserted. It was shot from a Predator Gasser R/C helicopter and made so much noise a security guard came to check it out. I think he was more curious if anything and pretty much left me alone.

This photo, as well as the photo on my home page, was taken with a custom built panoramic pinhole camera. The negative size is 5.5×14in and a picture of the camera is below.
